One of the many reason I adore Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga Dedicates Song to Bullied Jamey Rodemeyer in Vegas

Lady Gaga hasn't forgotten about the young fan she lost this week.
During her performance at the I Heart Radio fest in Las Vegas last night, she dedicated Hair to 14-year-old Jamey Rodemeyer, one of her biggest fans who tragically killed himself due to bullying about his sexuality.
"I lost a little monster this week and I'd like to dedicate this song to him," she said, as a video montage with his photo played in the background. "Tonight, Jamey I know you're up there and looking at us and you're not a victim. Bullying is for losers. Put your hands up for Jamey!" (Check out the video on the jump.)
The night wasn't all serious and somber, though. She was introduced by Justin Timberlake, who joked around about her crazy costumes...

"I was gonna come out here dressed in a giant egg," he quipped. "Someone told me the next performer did that already. Then I thought something a little crazier like a meat dress but then I guess she did that too!"
Gaga closed the two-day, star-studded music fest (where Jennifer Lopez, Coldplay and Jay-Z also performed) and was joined by a very special guest performer: Sting.

Someone gave Neil Patrick Harris (Doogie Howser) this advice before his career took off. I think it applies to life in general though.

“A career is like surfing. You paddle out and paddle out and get wet and hit by these waves. When you finally get out where you’re supposed to go, you have to sit on a surfboard for a long time, just waiting. If you’re really lucky, you’ll catch a wave, and it’ll be the most amazing feeling. But the key is that that wave will inevitably crash to the sand. Then what you have to do is paddle back out and get hit by a bunch of waves again. But trust that in the long term there will always be waves to catch.” To a young family from New Mexico, you can imagine our reaction: “What the hell is surfing?” But thinking back, it was a very impressive thing to hear as a kid and, as it turns out, absolutely accurate.

The Sky is Falling!!!

If you're up late tonight (between 12 and 4am), look to the sky.  A falling decommissioned satellite will be passing over Canada, Africa and Australia, as well as vast areas of the Pacific, Atlantic and Indian oceans. The risk to public safety is very remote.

An Early Halloween for Katy Perry!

Katy Perry, You Can Take Off The Mask! We Know It's You! (PHOTO)

Posted 5 hrs ago by Byron Flitsch in Celebrity, Photos
While Katy Perry has established herself as quite the trendsetter (pink hair, anyone?), we're not sure what we're feeling about the "accessory" she recently sported at Rio De Janeiro's airport. On one hand, the mask is effing creepy. Unless it's Halloween (or one of those peel-off masks from the drugstore) there is not a single reason to be wearing such a ridic thing on your face. On the other hand, IT'S EFFING GENIUS!! Distracting the paparazzi and skipping your makeup?! That cuts your AM routine in half!
Katy Perry's Carmen Miranda moment could change the face (get it?) of how famous people go out in public FOREVER. Instead of wearing over-sized sunglasses or putting their hands up to their faces, celebs could have favorite disguises on hand. For example, Katy went with your everyday fruit-on-the-head look, but we'd love to see what other options were available in that val-u-pack (or maybe not). Better yet, imagine the utter pandemonium if celebs started wearing masks of other celebs! Or what if Katy launched her own line of "fan masks" where she works the faces of her own fans? Guys, famous people would be just like... us!

Wow. I've always known Soldiers were brave. But this guy takes a big leap and his Dad catches him. Love it!

With repeal of DADT in the US military, Soldiers can finally serve openly.

Chocolate instead of Excercise? Now here's a study I can get on board with!

By Mary Papenfuss,  Newser Staff

Some scientists are good enough to eat—like the ones who just published a study saying munching on dark chocolate is as valuable for health as exercise. Researchers have found that a compound found in chocolate—epicatechin—seems to trigger the same muscle response as vigorous activity. ''Aerobic exercise, such as running or cycling, is known to increase the number of mitochondria in muscle cells," said the lead researcher, referring to the powerhouses in cells that generate energy. "Our study has found that epicatechin seems to bring about the same response—particularly in the heart and skeletal muscles.''
Mice fed only epicatechin showed the same mitochondria effects as mice who exercised 30 minutes a day on a treadmill in the Wayne State University study, reports the Telegraph. But, bad news for dedicated couch potatoes, mice fed epicatechin that also ran on the treadmill fared best. "Epicatechin treatment combined with exercise could be a viable means to offset muscle ageing,'' said the chief researcher. "At the moment it would be a leap of faith to say the same effects would be seen in humans. But it is something we hope to identify in future studies.''
